DEMAND SERVICE

DEMAND SERVICE AND EXPRESS DEMAND SERVICE

The WEIRTON TRANSIT CORPORATION operates DEMAND SERVICE and SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE, curb-to-curb service. DEMAND SERVICE requires a reservation at least one day before. SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE allows a same day reservation (for an additional fee) and is subject to availability.

SERVICE HOURS

DEMAND SERVICE and SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE operate weekdays from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. DEMAND SERVICE operates Saturdays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Neither service operates on Sundays or the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

FARES

$4 per ride for DEMAND SERVICE

$5 per ride for SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE

SERVICE AREA

DEMAND SERVICE and SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE operate within the areas of the City of Weirton that are accessible to our buses. Buses cannot access dead-end or narrow streets. WTC will let you know where we can pick you up and drop you off when you make your reservation. 

CANCELLATIONS

If you are unable to make your scheduled ride for any reason, please call the office at 304-797-8597. After hours, please leave a message. Drivers cannot make schedule changes for you. Cancellations made after 2 hours before the scheduled trip will be considered a NO-SHOW. Scheduled passengers who NO-SHOW will be suspended in accordance with the NO-SHOW policy.

TOP PRIORITY

WTC gives top priority to employment and medical appointments.

SCHEDULING RIDES

Rides on DEMAND SERVICE must be scheduled the day before the trip by 4:30 pm or up to a week in advance. Rides on the SAME DAY DEMAND SERVICE can be made the same day. To schedule a ride, please call 304-797-8597 weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. NO voicemail requests for rides are accepted on Saturdays or Sundays.

To help serve you better, we ask that you observe the following 4 tips:

1. Prepare for your call

2. Note your information

3. Schedule the return trip up front if possible

4. Be ready to go 10 minutes before the scheduled time

PREPARE FOR YOUR CALL

Please have the following information ready when you call:

1. Name

2. Date of travel

3. Origin address

4. Destination address

5. Desired pick up or arrival time

6. Whether you use a wheelchair or walker

7. Whether a personal care attendant or a service animal will accompany you

The dispatcher will let you know your pickup and return times. 

BE READY 10 MIN. EARLY

WTC may arrive up to 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Drivers will wait up to 3 minutes. Any passenger who is not at the scheduled pickup point and ready to go when the bus arrives will be considered a NO-SHOW, and the driver will leave to pick up other riders. The driver will NOT return for a second attempt. 

SCHEDULE YOUR RETURN

Except for medical trips, WTC requires return trips to be scheduled. Passengers should anticipate the latest possible time needed for their return and schedule a return trip for that time. 

NOTE YOUR TRIP INFO

Have a pencil and paper ready to write your pickup and return times down. This will help you remember them. If you have a calendar, write the times on it.
